Solamalai College of Engineering
Solamalai College of Engineering, formerly known as Raja College of Engineering and Technology, was established in 1995. In 2016, the college was acquired by the Solamalai Group, a prominent brand in Madurai with a history dating back to 1962 when it began as a single lorry operator. Over the years, the Solamalai Group has diversified its business operations across Tamil Nadu, engaging in various sectors such as FMCG distribution, C&F services, goods truck transportation, passenger services, infrastructure, and cinema exhibition. With a dedicated team of more than 1400 employees, they have made significant strides in these fields.
Solamalai College of Engineering is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The college offers seven undergraduate programs and four postgraduate programs. It achieved a 3.5-star rating in IIC 4.0 for the year 2021-2022 and was recognized in the “Promising” category under “Colleges/Institutes (Private/Self-financed)(Technical)” in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovations Achievement (ARIIA) 2021.
The college serves as the Nodal center for the BMW Skill Next Program and is an affiliated center for conducting the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). It also houses the MHRD-supported e-yantra Robotics Lab. Furthermore, Solamalai College of Engineering has been acknowledged by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) for conducting skill development courses and by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) for contributing to rural development in various villages in Madurai District. The institution boasts skill training centers and Industry Collaborative Innovation units to nurture an innovation culture among students. As a result, they are confident that their students will become valuable assets contributing to the growth of the organizations they serve and the nation as a whole.
